(i) Cracks
in walls: Seepages
due to cracks in walls can be stopped by using crackseal. If the cracks are
visible & 1mm or more in width. Press crackseal in the cracks, without
widening the cracks.
(ii)
In case of
hair line cracks:To stop seepage from hairline cracks clean surface with wire
brush and apply two coats of RZ - ED Polymer Mortar. Cure the coating with water
for 3 days.
(iii)
In case of
very dense, very large network and hair line cracks: In case of large nos. of
dense population hair line cracks, where it is uneconomical to deal with cracks
individually, coat the wall surface with 2 coats of Damp Proofer.
(iv)
For wall seepages due to ground water: This
seepages is generally observed in many ground floor structures, it is due to
rise in ground floor structures, it is due to rise in ground water table in
monsoons. The dampness is most visible in the walls. Its generally observed from
ground to a height of 3 - 4 ft. over the entire length of internal &
external walls.
This wall
dampness can be eliminated by presssure grouting in case of brick masonary walls
& concrete block masonary walls.
Special
grouting products are available to improve the impermeability coefficient of the
wall & stop wall seepage completely.
(v)
Cracks in
walls between masonary & RCC beam: These cracks are due to differential
coefficient of thermal expansion between masonary & RCC member. It is
imperative to seal this gap by making a “V’ grove & filling this ‘V’
grove with our Strextra – NSG 110 curing it for 3 days & over coating the
surface with 2 coats of RZ Polymer & ED Mortar.
WINDOWS – CHAJJAS:
(i)
Seepage due to gap between window masonary & aluminium section. Seal
the crack
with crackseal.
(ii) Gap
between wooden frame & masonary & seepages due to this crevices. Give
two coats of RZ Polymer & ED Mortar.
(iii)For
seepages due to gap between M.S.section of windows & masonary. Seal the gap with
Insta set-600.
(iv)Seepage
for cracks in chajjas, coat upper portion of chajjas with RZ–ED Polymer.
Mortar.
BATHROOM TOILET SEEPAGES:
The bathroom
seepages may originate from:
1)
Improper drain line.
2)
Improper tiling.
3)
Consealed water lines.
4)
Corroded or eroded door frames.
If the
seepage is due to improper drain line. Pressure grouting of special grouting
system completely stops the seepages due to improper drain line. This treatment
can be given to bathroom & toilets. It can be given to bathroom &
Toilets. It can be given to bathroom itself or from below the bathroom. Special
equipments & system are used to give this treatment.
For improper
tiling, particularly floor tiling, seal tile joints with ‘Tile Sealer’ this
stops the seepage immediately. In case floor tiles are broken, damaged, poor
worksmanship, lay 2mm Tile adhesive, Tile fix #1 & lay new tiles. This is
most economical procedure.
In case of
bottom portion of bathroom door frames are corroded or metal frame is corroded
or in case the wooden door frame is destroyed due to water, white ants, the
seepage may be due to water entering the sunken slab from the door frame cavity. Seal
this cavity completely using Insta Set 600, Ensure the Sealing is completely so
that no water enters into the cavity.
If the
consealed water lines are leaking, which line lead to wall dampness, through out
the year, If it is not possible to rectify the consealed water times, seep can
be stopped to considerable extent by pressure grouting of special grouting
system in the walls, around the supply lines.

repairs/ rehabilitation problem.
DIFFERENT CATEGORIES OF WATERPROOFING TREATMENTS
With
first showers of monsoons many of us rush to water proof of our abodes.
Water
proofing problem could be categorised as :-
1) Monsoon Seepages
a) From Roofs/Ceilings
b) From walls
c) From window frames, door frames in balcony.
d) Basement Seepages
2) Non-Monsoon Seepages
a) From Ceilings
b) From Walls
c) Basement Seepages
d) Leaking water tanks
MONSOON SEEPAGES:
i) Monsoon
seepage from roofs and ceilings occur due to failure of terrace water proofing.
This can be rectified using any one of our coatings. The coating essentially forms an impermeable membrane on the
terrace/roof, stopping ingression of water in slab. Our RZ-ED Polymer mortar is
useful for sealing of deep cracks in terrace/roof floorings, and can be treated
if the surface is damp.
ii) Monsoon
seepages through walls are due to breach or cracks in external plaster, through
which water enters into the walls. This
seepage can destroy furniture and wall paints as well. It can be treated from
outside ie. from positive side of seepage or from inside ie. negative side of
seepage. From positive side, the treatment comprises of sealing of cracks with
Crack Seal, and overcoating with two coats of Damp Proofer. Application of our
Repellent with cement paint is also recommended, as it is an economical
treatment if large areas are to be treated.
iii)
Seepages from window frames and door frames (Balcony) is due to small gap
between the frame and masonry surface. The
rain water rushing on the walls/frames find entry through the gaps between frame
and masonry. This problem can be
solved by pressing Crack Seal into the crevices/gaps from outside.
The ingression of water stops immediately.
iv) With
rains, the ground water table rises. Any
breach in basement allows this water to enter into the basement.
Many times, flooding the basement. Basement water proofing is done by
using our Special Grouting System. Basement
water proofing can also be done using our insta-plug formulations.
NON-MONSOON SEEPAGES:
i) From
ceilings: This seepage is generally from upper toilet/bathroom or drainline into
the lower flat ceilings. This seepage can be stopped using our Tile Grouts, if
the tile joint in bathroom/w.c. have opened out.
Or this seepage can be stopped using our Special Grouting System.
ii) From
walls: These seepages are generally on bathroom/w.c. partition walls.
This seepage can be stopped using our following products:-
a) Special Grouting System
b) Easy Grout
c) Use of Tile Joint Sealer to seal tile joints.
iii)
Basement Seepages: Basement seepage can be stopped using Special Grouting
System or
insta-plug formulations.
iv)
Leaking water tanks: Leaking water tanks can be treated with any of our
coating and sealant
systems.
Before
using any water proofing system, read instructions regarding method of use and
its applications. In case of
product application on surface, clean surface thoroughly with wire brush, clean
and dry, and coat immediately.
Always
prevention is better than cure. In
case of water proofing preventive treatment, costs are 1/20th to 1/90th of the
water proofing costs.
Use of
our Integral Water Proofer in slabs, brick-bats costs around 0.50 per Sq.ft.
Using Master Plaster in plaster to prevent wall seepage costs 0.05 per
Sq.ft. Integral Water Proofer and
Master Plaster are used at construction stage.
FOR SLOPING SLABS:
For sloping
slabs following practical difficulties lead to poor RCC, honeycombing and
subsequent seepage problems. Due to
gravity the richer cement slurry moves down, leaving upper layer of RCC leaner
in cement. Difficulty in curing
leads to insufficient hydration and hence insufficient strength.
These problems can be eliminated using our plasticizer SP-101 as cement
admixture when casting sloping roof RCC. It
provides homogeneous mix, no segregation and accelerated setting hence ensuring
optimum hydration-hence optimum concrete strength.
Two hours after casting sloping RCC, apply uniformly our Concrete Cure
Coating over the entire surface of the sloping roof.
Concrete Cure Coating forms a membrane, hence restricting evaporation of
water and hydration which is, must for allowing concrete to develop its complete
potential strength. No water curing
is thus required. Shutter Coat OC-A1 coat applied on shuttering material from
the lower side ensures smooth finish of RCC slab from the lower side and ensures
minimum throwback when plastering. Use
Master Plaster as plastering admixture for external-internal plaster.
Use I.W.P for brick bat water proofing and IPS.
