Cracks
in Walls appear due to silt in sand, due to lack of curing, or if our Master
Plaster is not used in plastering mortar. In all archeological structure cracks
appears due to weathering & ageing.
The cracks
in external wall plaster can be very damaging. Rainwater entering external
plaster cracks cause internal wall dampness, leading to paint blistering, damage
interior, cause heavy losses in case of commercial & office premises. In
case of archeological structures lower life of structure & accelerate
ageing.
These cracks
must be completely plugged to ensure no rain water can get into the wall &
cause seepage.
Instaset 600
is specifically formulated to treat external wall cracks. External wall cracks
can be generally seen at following junctures :-
1)
At window corners.
2)
On chajjas.
3)
At grooved edges of external plaster.
4)
At sites where the scaffolding bar was driven into
the punctured wall which was subsequently covered with cement sand mortar when
de-scaffolding. This portion of plaster could not be cured. (“Scaffolding
gabda”)
5)
Beam & wall Junction.
6)
In case of inadequately cured plaster, dense crack
population can be seen all over the plaster.
7)
Near rough plaster-sponge plaster or rough
plaster-smooth plaster function.
To treat
these cracks, clean the region around cracks with wire brush, wet cracks. Mix
water to Instaset 600 to bring it to paste consistency, suitable for sealing
cracks. Press Instaset 600 into cracks or use spatula to ensure cracks are
adequately sealed. Ensure adequate penetration of Instaset 600 into the
cervices. Cure for 3 days.
Instaset 600
has excellent adhesive features. It expands on setting hence seals the crevices
completely. Do not widen the cracks. No special skill is necessary for using
Instaset 600.
Instaset 600
is used in conjunction with Clear Water Proofer if external stone masonary
surface is to be water proofed. The surface should be thoroughly cleaned using
wire brush, cleaned with a mop or cloth. The pointing / cracks are sealed with
Instaset 600. Water cured for 3-4 days . Allowed to dry for 1-2 days two coats
of Clear Water Proofer is now applied. Second coat should be applied after an
interval of 8 hours.
For internal
walls make paste of Instaset 600, fill all cracks with spatula, water cure if
possible, scrub surface with fine grit sandpaper to a fine finish, the surface
is now ready to receive normal priming treatment.
For very
heavy rainfall regions, fill cracks with Instaset 600, water cure for 3 days.
Scrub surface with clean cloth to remove loose dust, coat region with RZ-ED
Polymer Mortar. Apply 2 coats.
