TOUGHCRETE –P105 COMPARISON OF FLOOR HARDENER TOUGHCRETE-P105

W/S AGGREGATE TYPE FLOOR HARDENER

Industrial flooring requires, high abrasion resistance and high strength, both features most vital for long life of Industrial flooring the thickness of high abrasion resistance layer should be thicker for high performance and life at longer service. The thicker the high abrasion resistance layer, better aging characteristics are assured.

TOUGHCRETE-P105

HIGH HARDNESS AGGREGATE FLOOR HARDENER

Considering M40 design mix, and cement content @ 350      350 kgs cement per cubic Metre. I cost of Toughcrete-P105 in the top 1" layer @ 5% of the weight of cement works       out to Rs.0.76/- sq.ft. only (The cost of Toughcrete-P105     is taken at Rs.18.00 per kgs, quantity of Toughcrete-P105     used per Metre cube being 17.50 kgs )

Here the thickness of the abrasion resistant layer is  around 1" thick. The bottom concrete is cast as usual   The remaining layer of 1" is prepares using 5%   Toughcrete-P105 to the weight of cement and spread  on the bottom layer whilst it is still green.

The aging characteristics of the Toughcrete-P105 treated      surface is far better 1).Due to reduction / elimination of micro cracks which inherently develop on the surface due to  shrinkage. 2).Due to inherently thicker Toughcrete-P015       treated surface of the order of 1"which not only imparts      higher strength but also greater abrasion resistance layer   This combines feature assures greater agin   improved service life

Using Toughcrete-P105 the surface hardness is due to morphology changes in the matrix, and is through out the matrix volume. Hardness obtained Mohs 6-7

The density of grits used for imparting high abrasion resistance  is generally in the range of 3.5  kgs  to 4.5 kgs per sq. Metre  Taking the cost of material @ Rs.10.00 per kgs, the cost per sq. foot of the treatment works out to Rs. 3.34 per sq.ft.

The surface hardness is imparted by the surface of the grits  which is spread in single or double layer. Due to daily cyclic variance in ambient temperature the grits are likely to loosen under heavy abrasion and high traffic. Once loosened the surface  degradation will be accelerated due to single layer or double  layer of the grit packing on the surface.

This inherently thin layer of high abrasion resistance surface layer of the order of few grit thickness will exhibit far lower life and accelerated aging.

Using grit type hardeners, mere surface hardness is obtained on  account of the grit surface hardness. Hardness obtained  Mohs 6–7.
