ANCHOREX – 428

Generally bonding of  old mortar  to new mortar or concrete to rocky surface , bonding to smooth  surface  is  poor. To  enchance  bonding  between  such  matrix  additional  bonding  aid  is  necessary.  Anchorex  is an  admixture  which  enchances  bonding  features  as  well as bonding strength. Ideal for making up jobs and gunniting.

Anchorex is milky  white  liquid. It is used in  proportion of  2%  -  5%  to the weight  of cement used for gunniting application. That is in case one bag of cement is intended to be used 1 - 2½ litres of Anchorex

is required.  Its  proportion  can  be  increased  depending  on  the  bonding  strength  required  and its application. For instant grab bonding more than 5% may be used.

Prepare  dry  cement  mortar  using  required  quantity  of  cement and aggregate. Mix  thoroughly. Mix Anchorex  to  the  gauging  water  and  add  this water  to the dry cement mortar. Usually water cement  ratio of 0.5 to 0.6 is used. Anchorex is added to the gauging water keeping water cement ratio 0.5 to 0.6.

To enchance bonding further,  mix Anchorex and  water  in  the  ratio 1 : 10  and coat  the entire surface with this Anchorex-water-primer. Apply the fresh mortar or concrete when the Anchorex-water-primer is still wet and tacky.

To prepare priming cement  slurry  for  bonding  on  difficult  to bond surface prepare cement slurry using Water + Anchorex in  the  proportion  20 : 1 to 10 : 1.  Add  cement  as  required  to  bring  it  to  suitable consistency, i.e. either brushable consistency, or sprayable consistency. This Anchorex-water-primer enchances   the bonding action & also the grabbing power of the mortar which is to bond on the treated surface.

Anchorex  can  also  be  used  for  rehabilitation  &  repairs  of  RCC  members  where  the steel bars are exposed or where cover to reinforcement is lost, due to chemical corrosion or due to saline corrosion.

To prepare  Anchorex-water-primer using  Anchorex, water & cement. Mix  Anchorex with water in the proportion 1 : 10. Take  3 ltr. of Anchorex–water-primer  &  add 3 kgs  cement.  Mix  thoroughly  to  bring  it   to   brushable consistency.

Scrub the exposed surface with wire brush to remove all loose  material,  algae ,  bacterial cover etc. Hack surface if necessary to remove all loose material. Brush apply Anchorex priming slurry.

Prepare cement , sand  and  grit mortar using 1 part cement + 2 part  sand + 3 part  5 mm grits. Mix water + Anchorex in the proportion 20:1. Use water Anchorex preparation 20 : 1 in the proportion 0.4 to 0.5  as water cement  ratio. Make up the entire cover lost on steel reinforcement with this  material. This  material must be used whilst the Anchorex priming slurry which is brush coated is still wet & tacky.

For repairs plaster use Anchorex-water-primer and water in the proportion 1 : 1, add this slurry to cement and sand  (1:4). Mix thoroughly.

Prepare  surface  by  thorough  wire  brush  scrubbing; remove all loose material,  clean surface  from algae  or  bacterial  cover.  Apply  one  coat  of Anchorex-water-primer or Anchorex priming slurry. The later may be used if the throw back is high in case of ceiling repairs etc.

For gunniting application use 1 ltr to 2.5 ltr Anchorex per bag of cement
